Atash Announces Two-Month Residency at Strange Brew

As one of the top cities for live music in the world, Austin has no shortage of live music venues. In recent years, however, one venue has risen to the top repeatedly for its reputation as a listening room, garnering multiple Austin Music Awards for Best Live Music Venue. Six-time Austin Music Award-winner for Best World Music Band ATASH will be pairing with the prestigious venue for a weekly residency on Wednesday nights in the months of September and October, 2016.

Known as a “listening room,” with a strict “no talking” policy, Strange Brew represents a departure for the dance-oriented band, but both want to create a new vibe together on Wednesday nights, changing expectations for both. The venue promises to be open to the type of crowd that enjoy listening to Atash and dancing, while Atash wants to focus on creating new music in a listening environment.

In fact, this particular run is being billed as the “new album laboratory” for the band, which is currently striving toward releasing a new album within the coming year. One of the things which makes Strange Brew one of the premiere listening spots for music in the “Live Music Capital of the World” is its offering of amenities for bands, including live multitrack recording capability. Atash will be recording every show with the help of their longtime collaborator, Strange Brew engineer Carles Zanetti, and they wish to use this residency as a forum for developing new music, with the weekly sessions serving to form the backbone, as well as the actual tracks, for the band’s forthcoming album, due for release in 2017. However, fans can expect to hear the band’s danceable longtime standards alongside the introduction of new material.

Come and be a part of history, which will not only be etched in the digital habitat of modern records, but also on vinyl for the first time, the new music of Atash! Sessions will take place every Wednesday from 10 to 11:30pm at Strange Brew for the months of September and October. We hope to see you there!
